Wooden dining chair designed by Jindřich Halabala for Uměleckoprůmyslové závody in the 1940s. The backrest is made of solid walnut; the other parts are made of beech wood and covered with walnut veneer. The wood has a distinctive grain and is stained a rich brown shade. The original spring-supported seat structure has been reupholstered with light red fabric. The chair is in great condition after a complete renovation in our workshop.
The renowned Czech designer of functionalist furniture Jindřich Halabala was originally a carpenter and later graduated from the School of Applied Arts under Professor Pavel Janák. Halabala worked at the Brno headquarters of UP závody, where he had been main architect and head of the studio from 1925 to 1955. His furniture was characterized by rounded shapes and the clean lines of functionalist design.
